Steve Mars, Managing Director at F2 Strategy, brings more than 25 years of wealth management technology experience to the firm. Throughout his career, Mars has focused on leveraging technology to improve operational efficiency, ensure compliance, and enable scale.
When Mars joined F2 Strategy, he found an organization deeply committed to execution. Recently, F2 Strategy began working with Alles Technology to strengthen its internal infrastructure and compliance framework. A key objective was achieving and maintaining SOC 2 Type II compliance, a requirement that increasingly determines whether consulting firms are qualified to work with large enterprise clients. Alles played a central role in helping F2 Strategy implement, validate, and maintain the controls required for SOC 2 Type II certification across the firm. That work extended beyond documentation to include technology selection, deployment, testing, and ongoing monitoring.
“Having SOC 2 Type II across all of F2 changes the conversation with enterprise clients,” Mars said. “It makes operating in that space easier and opens doors that simply aren’t available otherwise.” The result was increased credibility. As part of F2 Strategy’s SOC 2 program and broader risk management efforts, Alles Technology conducted a tabletop cybersecurity exercise with the firm. With a large Florida-based organization, weather-related disruptions represent a major operational risk, alongside more traditional threats such as ransomware or data breaches. During the exercise, Alles led F2 Strategy through realistic incident scenarios, role-playing responses and identifying gaps in preparedness.
“The point of a tabletop exercise is to uncover what you’re not prepared for,” Mars explained. “Alles challenged us, walked us through real scenarios, and identified areas where we needed to improve.” The exercise reinforced the value of having an external perspective, one that could objectively evaluate response readiness and help strengthen plans before a real incident occurs. For a firm operating at scale, responsiveness is critical. Mars points to Alles Technology’s service model as a differentiator, particularly when issues have the potential to disrupt business operations.
